·        Cover outlets: Babies are curious it’s important to cover all electrical outlets with safety covers. 

·        Anchor furniture: Babies are wobbly (and later, climbers) and can easily pull over a table not anchored to the wall. Invest in straps or brackets that keep dressers, bookcases, and other tall furniture securely in place. 

·        Keep dangerous items out of reach: Keep all medications, cleaning supplies, and other hazardous materials in a locked cabinet or out of space on high shelves. 

·        Check for lead paint: If your home was built before 1978, there is a chance that it contains lead paint. If you suspect that your home may have lead paint, have it tested by a professional and take steps to remove it if necessary. 

·        Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors: Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are essential for keeping your family safe in case of a fire or gas leak. Make sure that you have one on every level of your home and that they are in working order (check the batteries)
